There were some important events held in Victoria in the last few months

EVENTS

1.VWMS held an event How to Write A Stellar CV and Ace Your Interview’

Event Sponsored by MIPS

Targeted at final year medical students, interns and registrars applying for specialist training positions/ hospital jobs.

6 panellists:
Assoc Prof Louisa Ng
Dr Caroline Johnson
Dr Rachael Coutts
Dr Anna Dunn
Dr Kelly Champane
Dr Cristina Murphy

Attended by 52 not including VMWS committee)

Feedback given that it was the best event of its kind. Some admitted to having been to 4-5 other career building / interview type seminars held by the various hospitals and this surpassed them in providing concrete advice, adequate question time, a varied and experienced panel.

2. June 15th: COCO event at cocktail lounge to meet and greet.

BOOKS

1. There was the launching of the book by Dr Heather Sheard and Dr Ruth Lee “Women To The Front: the Extraordinary Australian Women Doctors in the Great War”.

This is truly an extraordinary book and its authors are to be congratulated. Their work has been supported by VWNS and AFMW. The VMWS President, Dr Magdalena Simonis officiated at this book launch.

2. Dr Madgalena Simonis also attended the launch of the book celebrating the history of the Royal Women’s Hospital at Medical History Museum . Another book worth reading since it special respects to the hospitals female doctors and their contribution to obstetrics, neonatology and science.

In Addition

Dr Magdalena Simonis attended the AMA Annual Conference in Brisbane 24/5-26/5/2019 as one of the three national GP delegates.
