The inaugural meeting of the QMWS Centennial Celebration Working Group took place Tuesday 4th June 2024. Dr. Lydia Pitcher, Dr. Kathryn Mainstone, Dr. Barbara Woodhouse, Dr. Anna Raymond, and Dr. Chloe Hang were in attendance. We were graciously welcomed by Ms Lucy Reid, Senior Advancement Co-ordinator, who guided us to our monthly meeting venue at the beautiful Emeritus Professor Mary Mahoney Boardroom at the Herston UQ Medical School. We extend our warm thanks to her for her hospitality and for arranging easy access to the venue.

We were joined by Charla Strelan, Curator of the Marks Hirschfeld Museum of Medical History, who provided valuable advice on preserving the ‘Living Documents’ passed down to QMWS members. These include minute books created by past members, dating back to 1929, when the proposal was made for QMWS to affiliate with other states to form an Australian Federation of Medical Women.

We are excited to continue exploring these historical documents, and if possible, digitising them, so they can be shared in the lead up to our QMWS Centennial Celebration in 2029.
