National Council of Women of Queensland Inc. (NCWQ) Bursary Program for 2025 Announced– including Five Bursaries for Medical Women in 2025 – Applications now open!

It has been 7 years, since the NCWQ included its first QMWS Bursary in 2019, to celebrate the 90th anniversary of our organisation.
About This Year’s Bursaries
In 2025, QLD Medical Women’s Society (QMWS) are pleased to announce that there will be five NCWQ Bursaries offered that are specific to Medical Women.
Applicants may be eligible to apply for one or more of the bursaries.
These include the inaugural Women in Radiology bursary, sponsored by Queensland X-Ray ($2000).
QMWS are very grateful for Queensland X-Ray for the sponsorship of this bursary, and hope it will continue into the future.
The purpose of this bursary is promote engagement and leadership opportunities for women in the field of Radiology.
Furthermore, the bursary amounts have been incremented again this year, in line with cost of living increases, and recognising that registration fees and travel to professional development events have become more expensive.
Available Medical Women Bursaries 2025
Queensland Medical Women’s Society will be offering the following Bursaries in conjunction with the NCWQ:
- QMWS Members’ Bursary (sponsored by QMWS members’ donations) ($1500)
- QWMS Prof Tess Cramond Memorial Bursary (sponsored by AMAQ) ($1250)
- QMWS Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Bursary (sponsored by Mater)($1500)
- QMWS Women in Radiology Bursary (sponsored by Queensland X-Ray) ( $2000)
- Quota/NCWQ Dr Laurel Macintosh OBE Memorial Bursary for Ophthalmology ($2000)
Quota International, jointly with the NCWQ, are offering again the Dr Laurel Macintosh OBE Memorial Bursary.
This bursary, first awarded in 2024, honours Dr Laurel Mcintosh OBE, and the commitment Laurel had for both organisations. Valued at $2,000.00, the criteria reflect Laurel’s contribution to the field of ophthalmology.
About The NCWQ Bursary Program
Established in 1905, the National Council of Women of Queensland Inc. (NCWQ) continues to represent the voice of thousands of women through its affiliated organisations and individual membership.
The bursary program, since its commencement in 2009, indicates the strong commitment of NCWQ to equality of opportunity for all women, especially in offering assistance to Queensland female students as they pursue their chosen pathway of study.
The 2025 program, through NCWQ and its sponsors (including QMWS), offers a range of bursaries, to assist Queensland women with their educational expenses.
