The ACT community came together in remarkable spirit for the 2026 Walk for Hope, standing in solidarity with Karinya House and the life-changing support it provides to women and their babies.
Medical women, local leaders and community advocates walked side by side, reflecting a shared commitment to compassion, dignity and practical support for women in crisis.
Representatives from Medical Women’s Society of the ACT joined long-time champions of women’s health including Dr Anita Hutchison, Dr Julie Beuth, Dr Marjorie Cross, Dr Jane Twin and Dr Betty Ge. Their ongoing advocacy continues to strengthen the ACT’s supportive landscape for women and children. The event also received strong backing from ACT parliamentary leaders, with Senator David Pocock and Elizabeth Lee MLA walking alongside participants.
Karinya House has since shared the extraordinary impact of this year’s event. Together, the community raised $120,134, enabling Karinya House to continue supporting approximately 140 women and their children each year who are pregnant or parenting while facing crisis.
The 2026 Walk for Hope was a celebration of community strength, with:
- 828 participants walking in solidarity
- 1,217 donations contributing to the fundraising total
- 49 volunteers supporting the event
- More than 6.5 million steps taken for women and children
This year’s Walk for Hope was a powerful reminder of what collective action can achieve. When our community walks together, we lift women up together — with compassion, dignity and hope.
