The Healthcare and Social Assistance profession is the largest employing industry in Australia. It is rapidly expanding and is projected to continue to do so as the population both grows and ages, amplifying any current work health and safety issues and trends.
Even before Covid-19 came along, healthcare professionals have had to deal with an increasing prevalence of occupational violence, assault, bullying and intimidation. Now, coupled with Covid-19, healthcare professionals are facing significant stresses and pressures in their work – and social – lives.
This complimentary 1 hour briefing aims to shed some light on some of these key issues affecting the health and safety of Health and Aged Care professionals.
The meeting will consider OHS challenges – particularly in the context of Australia’s responses to the Covid-19 pandemic – from three different perspectives of nurses and support staff, the medical specialist and the General Practitioner:
Through this briefing, participants will gain some insight into the nature, extent and complexities associated with current (and developing) occupational health and safety in the healthcare sector, together with some ideas for strategies on how to manage these challenges.
