Topic: COVID 19 vaccination and emerging issues

Join us for an online discussion about COVID-19 vaccination for children and other current and emerging COVID-19 issues.

Professor Christopher Blyth, recent co-chair of ATAGI and paediatric infectious diseases physician, will join Avant’s expert panel to discuss the challenges associated with vaccinating children against COVID-19.

We will also discuss current and emerging COVID-19 issues including vaccination exemption certificates and mandating patient vaccination.

The webinar is aimed at general practitioners and physicians.

Professor Christopher BlythProfessor Christopher Blyth

Co-director, Wesfarmers Centre of Vaccines and Infectious Diseases
Professor Chris Blyth is co-director of the Wesfarmers Centre of Vaccines and Infectious Diseases at Telethon Kids Institute. He is also a paediatric infectious diseases specialist, clinical microbiologist and clinician scientist at Perth Children’s Hospital and University of Western Australia. Professor Blyth served on the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation committee since 2012, serving as co-chair from 2018 until the end of 2021.

Dr Michael WrightDr Michael Wright

General Practitioner and Chief Medical Officer, Avant
Michael is a Sydney-based GP and Avant’s Chief Medical Officer. His career includes general practice work in both urban and remote settings and across culturally diverse populations. He has been a practice owner, and a salaried and contractor GP. Michael is also an experienced researcher with a PhD in health economics, and he is a strong advocate for improving Australia’s health system.

General Manager, Advocacy Education and Research – Avant
Georgie is the General Manager, Advocacy Education and Research at the medical indemnity insurer Avant. She is a lawyer and has worked in health law for over 25 years, assisting and advising doctors on a wide range of medico-legal issues.

Sonya BlackSonya Black

Practice Manager, Legal – Workplace Law Team, Avant
Sonya Black leads Avant’s Workplace Law Team. She advises doctors and medical practices across Australia about a broad range of workplace issues. She has over 25 years’ experience as an employment lawyer, including over 15 years advising about employment issues in public hospitals and private medical practice.
