Management of intimate partner violence

Intimate partner abuse is also known as domestic violence, family violence and violence against individuals (child or elder abuse, for example).

The Royal Australasian College of General Practitioners has endorsed the Victorian Community Council on Crime and Violence’s Management of the whole family when intimate partner violence is present: guidelines for general practitioners in Victoria. The guideline is the result of international collaboration involving researchers in the UK, the US, Netherlands, Canada, the UK and Australia.

Dr Angela Taft and Associate Prof Kelsey Hegarty led the project, assessing existing evidence based guidelines using the AGREE tool.

The guidelines are available in pdf format from the RACGP website.
