As Summer advances on us and many are looking forward to having a break from our regular occupations I want to take a moment to reflect on the past year at AFMW.
The Australian Federation of Medical Women (AFMW) is a not for profit, politically neutral, non sectarian, non government organisation that seeks to improve the health of all Australians, especially the health of women and children.
AFMW is a member of the Australasian Institute of Digital Health, Australian Women’s Coalition, partners with Doctors for the Environment Australia and is affiliated with Medical Women’s International Association (MWIA), Advancing Women in Healthcare Leadership (AWHL) and Climate and Health Alliance in Australia (CAHA).

The QMWS Centennial Working Group held its sixth meeting in the Emeritus Professor Mary Mahoney Boardroom, marking our final gathering of the 2024 year. We were delighted to welcome Dr. Ira van der Steenstraten (Immediate Past-President and current Vice President), and Dr. Janet Huang, who served as QMWS President in 2014.
There was more to Celebrate on 31 October than Halloween! The local Medical Women Assembled (no black hats or cats I promise!) at EQ to Celebrate the Achievements of our colleagues at a sumptuous dinner punctuated by presentations. See photos from this recent MWS ACT & Region event.
