In the spirit of the 2023 NAIDOC Week celebrations, we are very pleased to announce the outcome of 2023 Purple Bush Medicine Leaves Bursary Program. Congratulations to this year’s four recipients, who are all members of the Australian Indigenous Doctors’ Association, and at diverse stages of their career (two medical students, one recent graduate PGY1, and one registrar in her final year of specialty training).

This beautiful and inspiring video was the initiative of Dr Sarah Jane Springer (one of the recipient of the 2022 Purple Bush Medicine Leaves Bursaries) in providing a contribution to the NAIDOC Week Purple Bush Medicine Leaves Bursary Celebration (held in Brisbane, 5 July 2022) when she could not attend in person as planned due to skeleton staff during the COVID Surge. Following our earlier post where we announced the recipients of the 2022 Purple Bush Medicine Leaves Bursaries, we are pleased this week to profile another of the recipients, Dr Sarah Jane Springer, a Wiradjuri woman from Mudgee, NSW and is currently working at Charleville, Queensland. Congratulations to the 2022 AFMW Purple Bush Medicine Leaves Bursary Recipients – Ms Lauren Roth, Dr Nicole Whitson and Dr Sarah McEwan-Springer. We are very pleased to profile the three candidates (over the coming weeks) who have each been awarded a Bursary of $1000 to contribute to career, leadership and professional development activities. This week, we profile Ms Lauren Roth.
