As Summer advances on us and many are looking forward to having a break from our regular occupations I want to take a moment to reflect on the past year at AFMW.

There was more to Celebrate on 31 October than Halloween! The local Medical Women Assembled (no black hats or cats I promise!) at EQ to Celebrate the Achievements of our colleagues at a sumptuous dinner punctuated by presentations. See photos from this recent MWS ACT & Region event.

Dr Louise Stone, a GP and researcher, is seeking financial help with the publication of a book written as a result of her research into sexual harassment in medicine. MWS ACT & Region has encouraged her in the research and as an organisation have pledged funds towards the publication.
[EVENT RECAP] The Winter Solstice was celebrated by the ACT and Region Medical Women’s Society last week in Canberra with fun games, raffles, auctions and a quiz to raise money for the small charities we support.
EVENT RECAP MWS ACT & Region fielded a team of 29 in this year’s fun run raising money for breast and ovarian cancer research.

Dr Mary Johnston is an inspiring achiever in Rural General Practice in British Columbia, Canada. She took me under her wing as a Medical Student on elective and we have stayed in contact since. Watch the video interview.
