About
AMWA has organized a series of webinars on COVD since the beginning of the COVID pandemic with speakers who are women physicians and leaders from Asia, Africa, Western Pacific, North America who have shared experiences of challenges they have faced and best practices . This event is a continuation of the previous webinars hosted on COVID and will address the challenges of long COVID , the continued surges in numbers due to the new variants and the challenges focusing on women and a robust discussion on gender equity issues.

Gigi Osler, BScMed, MD, FRCSC, ICD.D
Dr. Flordeliz “Gigi” Osler is an Otolaryngology-Head and Neck surgeon, an assistant professor at the University of Manitoba, and has worked to balance life as a surgeon, wife, and mother since she started her practice in 1998.
Born in Winnipeg, Canada to immigrant parents from the Philippines and India, her mother encouraged her strength and independence, while her father inspired her to become a physician.
As the 2021-22 Federation of Medical Women of Canada President, she serves as a role model and leader for the medical profession and influences medical women across Canada.
Magdalena Simonis, MBBS, FRACGP, DRANZCOG, MHHS
Associate Professor Magdalena Simonis is a government health advisor, board director, primary care researcher with the University of Melbourne Safer Families Centre of Research Excellence, a leading women’s health expert and advocate for health equity.
In 2020, Dr Simonis was appointed to the National COVID-19 Taskforce women’s health expert advisory committee.
She is co-Chair of the Medical Women’s International Association(MWIA) Scientific and Research Subcommittee and Chair of the MWIA Mentoring and Leadership group.
Sherry Lai, MD
Dr. Chyong-Huey Lai is Professor and Vice Superintendent of Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, and Distinguished Professor of Chang Gung University College of Medicine, Taiwan. Dr. Lai obtained her M.D. degree from College of Medicine, National Taiwan University in 1982.
She was President of the Taiwan Association of Gynecologic Oncologists (2002-2004) and a Council Member of International Gynecologic Cancer Society (2002-2006).
She has served the Editorial Board of Gynecologic Oncology since 2005. She received many awards such as Excellence Award, National Sciences Council, Taiwan (2007, 2010), Outstanding Professionalism Award, Ministry of Health and Welfare, Taiwan-2018, Medical Doctor’s Role Model Award of Taiwan Medical Association-2019, and We Innovators Award-2020 for her outstanding contribution.
Saralyn Mark, MD
Saralyn Mark, MD, an endocrinologist, geriatrician and women’s health specialist and the founder, president and CEO of SolaMed Solutions, LLC, a boutique consulting firm.
In this capacity, she has served as a medical and scientific policy advisor providing scientific and strategic direction for organizations and agencies including the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Strategic Investment Fund, academia, industry, and non-governmental and professional society organizations.
She is also the founder and president of iGIANT®, the only nonprofit in the world accelerating the translation of research into gender/sex-specific design elements across all sectors.
