ACT and Region hold an annual cocktail party at the home of one of our members with the aim of welcoming newcomers most often students to ACT. It is supported by Compass Fertility.
The small entry fee goes to our charities. Compass Fertility generously subsidises the attendance for the new students to our ANU Medical School
This year our cocktail party was held on International Women’s Day.
The evening was filled with joy and kindnesses and the notion of celebrating medical woman in our community. There were fascinating conversations about the gender pay gap , about access to abortion in our area ,and about ways to support the experience of med students in our region.
The Doctors Health Advisory Service ( Drs4DRS ACT) had their fridge magnets there for the taking and to alert members to continuing information and support.
ACT and Region MWS President, Jane Twin outlined what we are planning for 2023 , and our next “ event” will be a medical women’s team competing in the Mother’ Day Fun Run ( Walk) in Canberra.
