The AFMW has embarked on several initiatives and projects over the years. These aim to either shed further light on the issues that we advocate for, or assist medical women both professionally and personally. If you are interested in conducting research or undertaking a project that is in alignment with our mission, we are very willing to assist.

This beautiful and inspiring video was the initiative of Dr Sarah Jane Springer (one of the recipient of the 2022 Purple Bush Medicine Leaves Bursaries) in providing a contribution to the NAIDOC Week Purple Bush Medicine Leaves Bursary Celebration (held in Brisbane, 5 July 2022) when she could not attend in person as planned due to skeleton staff during the COVID Surge. NAIDOC Week Purple Bush Medicine Leaves Celebration for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Women in Medicine Bursaries– Tuesday 5 July 2022

(POST UPDATED 17 July) On Tuesday 5 July 2022, we celebrated the recipients of the inaugural 2021 Purple Bush Medicine Leaves Bursaries and the launch of the inaugural Queensland based (NCWQ QMWS) Bursary sponsored by Mater. We are very grateful to the many distinguished guests who attended and supported this event, and hope it will become a template for an annual NAIDOC event in future, to be rotated nationally.
