The Australian Federation of Medical Women (AFMW) is a not for profit, politically neutral, non sectarian, non government organisation that seeks to improve the health of all Australians, especially the health of women and children.
AFMW is a member of the Australasian Institute of Digital Health, Australian Women’s Coalition, partners with Doctors for the Environment Australia and is affiliated with Medical Women’s International Association (MWIA), Advancing Women in Healthcare Leadership (AWHL) and Climate and Health Alliance in Australia (CAHA).

ICAN Australia (International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons) is holding a Week of Action for Abolition 2-9 August. The week includes multiple online webinars plus in person events in each state and territory.
It seems so appropriate that the Australian Federation of Medical Women can celebrate the 5th year of the Purple Bush Medicine Leaves Bursary Program along with NAIDOC’s 50th anniversary by announcing five recipients of the 2025 Purple Bush Medicine Leaves Bursaries.
This report was authored by Dr Sarah Jane Springer, one of the 2022 AFMW Purple Bush Medicine Program Bursary recipients. It builds upon the work of the Cultural Safety Working Group in 2024.
