The Australian Federation of Medical Women (AFMW) is a not for profit, politically neutral, non sectarian, non government organisation that seeks to improve the health of all Australians, especially the health of women and children.

AFMW is a member of the Australian Women’s Coalition and the WomenSpeak Network, partners with Doctors for the Environment Australia and is affiliated with Medical Women’s International Association (MWIA) and Climate and Health Alliance in Australia (CAHA).

The second webinar in our series was a terrific success and interest in the activities of the MWIA Mentoring and Leadership Special Interest group continues to grow. We had a total of 398 registrants with attendees from India, Korea, Brazil, Germany, Sweden, UK, USA, Australia, Taiwan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Sierra Leone, Zambia, Sudan, Italy to name a few.

This is timely and important – ATAGI has changed its stance on vaccination for >18 year olds. Key points: Get whichever vaccine you can; Astra Zeneca and Pfizer reduce severity of disease symptoms, reduce hospitalisations; Reduce likelihood of death; They might also reduce transmission to some extent; Delta strain is more contagious, is in our community and is now a major risk. It affects young people severely.
