Positive family planning?

The author, Amy Bachrach, is a freelance writer who found to her dismay that she was menopausal when she attempted to conceive a second child at age ~42.

The article and accompanying commentary prompted Jane M Andrews, a gastroenterologist, to write a letter to the MJA Editors. In “‘Positive’ family planning: another personal viewpoint“, Dr Andrews passionately argues that in medicine as a profession childbearing is devalued and discouraged.

“If we, as doctors, are serious about this issue we need to lead by example and address workplace difficulties in promoting childbearing as a positive choice in our own profession.”
