Doctors from all over Australia, New Zealand and UK plus a colleague from Pakistan came together in Canberra on Monday 23rd October to address the topic of sexual harassment and abuse by doctors on doctors. Those of us present will need to take some time to reflect on the day. Assoc Prof Louise Stone, who convened the initiative, will be putting together a communique which we will post when it’s available.
AFMW members from Queensland and ACT and Region were well represented. ACT and Region MWS funded the pre Summit dinner at ANU Food Co-op which fulfilled its aim of flattening the hierarchy – a simple dinner for students, doctors in training sitting at tables with leaders in our profession and even scraping their left overs into the compost bin at the end of the night!
