NOTICE OF AGM and call for EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST for additional Council representatives
AFMW works on a 3-year cycle for Executive, and the Triennial Meeting (at which the Executive are elected) will be held 10am, Saturday 28 November 2026 in Canberra. It will be followed by the AGM at which the annual reports are presented and the results of the Council Elections are announced.
These meetings will be accessible by Zoom, and anyone in Canberra is welcome to attend in person. More details will follow soon.
Our Council comprises the Executive (elected by Council), Representatives appointed by each Member State Organisation, and 4 additional Representatives to give a good breadth of perspective to our deliberations:
- a Representative of the Individual Members (those unaffiliated with a State Organisation),
- a Rural/Regional based Councillor,
- a Councillor who is within 7 years of Graduation, and
- a Councillor who is less than 40 years of age.
Council meetings occur every 2-3 months by zoom on evenings or weekends and provide an opportunity to interact with a range of enthusiastic Medical Women who want to make a difference in supporting the interests of other Medical Women and the health of Women and Children in general. Lifetime friendships have been forged in this forum.
Nominations
I invite members who belong to any of the categories mentioned and who have a passion to work with AFMW to contact me ([email protected]) or our Secretary ([email protected]) for more information or to submit an expression of interest in the position.
Expressions of interest should include a current CV, details of your membership of AFMW, which Position you are interested in, relevant experience, and a brief outline of why you want to join our Council. They should reach us no later than 31 October 2026.
Anyone wanting to Nominate for Executive Positions (President, V-P, Secretary and Treasurer) or National Coordinator must have prior experience on AFMW Council or on the Committee of a State Organisation. Nomination forms will be available soon through your State Organisation or can be requested from the AFMW Secretary.
If re-elected as President, I look forward to working with a team of enthusiastic and caring Medical Women over the next 3 years!
