QMWS & AFMW Open Forum 19 Aug – “Time for Reform of the Mental Health System?”

19 August, 2021 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm AEST

Please join QMWS for our August Dinner Meeting

Please join the QMWS for our August Meeting on “Time for Reform of the Mental Health System in Australia?”.

Keynote speaker at the event is Dr Christel Middeldorp, Professor of Child and Youth Psychiatry and co-chair of the Strategy expert group. She will update us on the brand-new National Children’s Mental Health and Wellbeing strategy. This has become even more important with the added stressors of the Covid pandemic.

Unfortunately, given recent and ongoing COVID-19 spread in Qld, and consistent with advice regarding current COVID-restrictions, we have made the decision to move our August dinner meeting to an online platform.

The event is generously sponsored by Eve Health, providers of excellence in women’s healthcare since 2007.

Professor Christel Middeldorp

Dr Christel Middeldorp is Professor of Child & Youth Psychiatry, a conjoint position with the University of Queensland and Children’s Health Queensland. Her research focuses on improving the identification of children that are at risk for a chronic course of their mental disorder and to develop treatment targeted at these groups to prevent an unfavourable course.

In 2019, she was appointed by minister Greg Hunt to co-chair the expert group for the National Children’s Mental Health and Wellbeing strategy. In 2017 she received the international scholar award from the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Date/Time: Thursday, August 19, 6.30 for 7pm start.
Location: Zoom online

Tickets available via Humantix

Bookings by AFMW members and network are welcome.
