AFMW state affiliate, the QMWS (Queensland Medical Women’s Society) advise there are now only two weeks left in which to submit your Bursary application. Three NCWQ (National Council of Women of Queensland) Bursaries will be awarded in conjunction with the Queensland Medical Women’s Society. Applications close Monday 5 June 2023. QMWS look forward to receiving applications especially from medical women in their final year as medical students and recent graduates.
Available Medical Student / Recent Graduate Bursaries
The 2023 program, through NCWQ and its sponsors (including QMWS), offers a range of bursaries, to assist Queensland women with their educational expenses, and/or to attend an event to advance their leadership and professional development.
We are very excited that in 2023, Queensland Medical Women’s Society is again offering three Bursaries to be awarded in conjunction with the NCWQ:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Bursary, sponsored by Mater Health
- Professor Tess Cramond Memorial Bursary, sponsored by AMAQ
- QMWS Members’ Bursary, sponsored by QMWS members’ donations.

About The NCWQ Bursary Program
Established in 1905, the National Council of Women of Queensland Inc. (NCWQ) continues to represent the voice of thousands of women through its affiliated organisations and individual membership.
The bursary program, since its commencement in 2009, indicates the strong commitment of NCWQ to equality of opportunity for all women, especially in offering assistance to Queensland female students as they pursue their chosen pathway of study.

How To Apply
Each bursary has its own criteria. Base criteria include:
- A Female medical student studying full-time or recent medical graduate
- A resident of Queensland
- An Australian citizen or a Permanent Resident of Australia
- Plus, Bursary specific
