Many of us are deeply concerned about the health effects of climate change.
- This week has seen floods in North Queensland, bush fires in the West and in Victoria and extreme heat over much of the continent. All of these have profound impact on people’s health and well- being.
- They also affect the lives and work of our members in these affected areas.
- In the last AFMW triennium, AFMW signed a MOU with Doctors for the Environment, and the current campaign for DEA states Put Health First.
- Here is a link to a DEA fact sheet on the effects of severe flooding on health.
- AFMW are currently looking for enthusiastic medical women who would like to be part of our Climate Health Action Group (CHAG) Special Interest Group.
