A Message From The Founder

I am the Founder the Women’s Climate Congress and am writing to invite members of Australian Federation of Medical Women to an important national women’s conference, which will be hosted by our Victorian members in Castlemaine, Victoria at the end of March 2025.Part festival and part congress, this event will be a gathering of visionary leaders, changemakers, and climate action advocates from across the country to be held at the iconic Castlemaine Town Hall.

This Congress is planned as a beacon for women, in all diversity, and women’s organisations committed to driving meaningful action for climate sustainability, women’s leadership and community empowerment. We are already receiving significant interest from across the women x climate change sector – which has been further fuelled by the disappointing outcomes from (mostly men) world leaders at COP29 in relation to fossil fuel phase-out and climate finance, as well as the international backsliding on gender equality.

The need to build women’s empowerment in the climate crisis is very clear and this Victorian Congress event will provide a unique opportunity for face-to-face networking, inspiring stories of women redefining the status quo and strategising for the coming vital years of action.

The program will feature a dynamic program of keynotes, workshops, and panel discussions to delve into critical issues facing Australia and beyond, from climate resilience, innovative governance and business practices, to cultural inclusivity and women’s leadership.

We would be delighted if you and members of your team are able to join us and bring the important voice of Australian Federation of Medical Women to our conversations and networking.

Importantly, please can you distribute information to your members and contacts via your e-news or similar.

More about the Women’s Climate Congress (WCC)

The Women’s Climate Congress is an Australian not-for-profit organisation working to promote nonpartisan women’s participation, leadership and priorities for action on climate change alongside deep listening and collaboration across different political, business and community perspectives.

Since our formation in early 2020, we have engaged with 1000s of women from all parts of Australia and overseas, across political parties and from all walks of life. We are connected nationally and internationally to women at all levels of governance and decision making.

Through these networks and our many online and in person events, we have co-created a WCC Charter for Change to give voice to the aspirations of women, in all our diversity, for immediate collaborative action to secure the climate, and for longer-term actions to build human and planetary wellbeing.
