Here’s a recap of last weekend’s MWS ACT & Region Ski weekend.
With Desiree yelling about the first sighting of snow, the frisson of possibility resounded through our car. The concern that there was going to be ‘slush’ and ‘no snow’ melted away.
The group of 16 hard working women doctors (and two daughters) were keen to get out on the snow and see if their knee braces could stand the pressure of their expectations.
By mid-afternoon talk of succession planning, retirement options, rural workforce incentives, international leadership opportunities, FIFO mental health, Defence force culture and of course, work-life balance were already well established in the agenda of the weekend. Of course, practicing what we preach required reflection on the importance of recharging.
WhatsApp proved a vital connection between us as we zipped around the mountain with our various different skill levels and confidence.
The highlight for me was the T bar conversation with an Australian Olympic wrestler (also a mum and GP)!
Overall, it was a not-to-be-missed event. I highly recommend any Australian Federation of Medical Women member attend next year’s conference on the weekend of August the 8th! Reach out via the MWS ACT & Region website to express your interest now!
