Charity Dinner 2026: A Celebration of Culture and Community | MWS ACT & Region [Recap]

The Medical Women’s Society of the ACT held its annual Charity Dinner on 19 June 2026 at the Royal Canberra Golf Club, bringing together members for an evening that celebrated cultural diversity and strengthened community ties across the medical profession.

Guests arrived dressed in attire reflecting their cultural heritage, creating a vibrant and colourful atmosphere. The program featured lively interactive activities, including a cultural quiz that sparked friendly competition as tables debated answers and cheered one another on.

A silent auction showcased items generously donated by members, with spirited bidding on handcrafted pieces, hampers, and unique cultural items. The much‑anticipated cake auction added to the excitement, with beautifully decorated cakes, many inspired by traditional flavours, drawing enthusiastic bids and plenty of laughter.

MWS-ACT also acknowledged the wonderful medical students who helped organise and run several of the evening’s games. Their energy, professionalism, and creativity contributed significantly to the event’s success and highlighted the value of mentorship and intergenerational connection within MWS‑ACT.

Funds raised from the evening will support the four charities that MWS‑ACT partners with across the globe, reinforcing the Society’s commitment to uplifting women and communities internationally.

As the evening drew to a close, members reaffirmed their commitment to fostering an inclusive, culturally rich medical community where women feel supported, represented, and empowered. The 2026 Charity Dinner will be remembered for its joyful celebration of culture and the generosity and connection that define MWS‑ACT.
