Climate change, ill health and conflict

This recent BMJ editorial claims that climate change, ill health and conflict are interrelated, and interrelated, so collaboration between medical and military professions is needed. Climate change has been recognised by the Australian Federation of Medical Women and the Medical Women’s International Association as an issue that results in widespread negative health and social impacts on many people, and has resolved a radical reduction in greenhouse gas emission and the granting of refugee status to people who are displaced as a result of climate change.

Help reduce climate change by visiting the Australian initiative 1 Million Women and committing to reduce your carbon emissions.  And if you’d like to know more about gender, population and climate change download the UNFPA/WEDO resource kit, which explains how gender equality reduces climate change and how women worldwide are uniquely positioned to help curb the harmful consequences of a changing climate.
