WorldPride is a global LGBQTIA+ Festival that has been staged in different cities every 2-3 years since 2000. Over the next two weeks it is being held in Sydney in conjunction with the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. This is the first time WorldPride will be held in the southern hemisphere.
Visit Sydney’s WorldPride festival for more details.
Take the opportunity to explore the 2023 WorldPride theme of Gather, Dream and Amplify.
There is a Human Rights Conference at the Sydney Convention Centre as part of the WorldPride events from March 1st – March 3rd and two medical women are conference speakers on health matters at that conference.
Dr Ruth McNair AM from Victoria, will be speaking on disparities in health outcomes for LGBQTIA+ people and Dr Clara Tuck Meng Soo, who is a member of ACT and Region MWS, will be discussing barriers to gender affirming healthcare for trans and gender diverse people.
For AFMW this is a particular opportunity to amplify our links with AMLA (Australian Medical Lesbian Association).
AMLA holds an excellent annual conference and this year it is in in August in Melbourne.
For those watching Saturday night’s parade, look out for the Pride in Medicine Float.
