Jill is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon, mother of two, and a valued longstanding member of AFMW. Jill was formerly the AFMW Webmaster, as well as the VMWS Webmaster and Treasurer of VMWS. In 2021, Jill was one of the recipients of the Inaugural Brilliant Women in Digital Health awards. The AFMW community is very proud Dr Jill Tomlinson’s achievements.

AFMW extends hearty congratulations to Dr Ashna Basu for being the recipient of the AMA Women’s Health Award at this year’s AMA National Conference in Sydney. Dr Ashna Basu received the award from outgoing AMA President Dr Omar Khorshid, for her passion and dedication to gender equity, mental health, and the social determinants of health
Australian Medical Association (AMA) announced its new Federal Council which will be convened from 1 August 2022. AFMW President, Dr Simonis is the newly elected AMA Federal Council Representative for General Practice. This is a hugely important role as AMA is really the advocacy body for the profession.
Dr Maria Boulton has been elected the 127th President of AMA Queensland. She is the ninth woman to hold the role in the Association’s 128-year history. This is great news! The AFMW congratulates Maria.
