AFMW President’s End of Year Message | December 2024
As Summer advances on us and many are looking forward to having a break from our regular occupations I want to take a moment to reflect on the past year at AFMW.

“We have had a bit of a turbulent time in AFMW of late, and I hope that we are now about to enter calmer waters and see our organisation return to its key purpose of supporting Medical Women.”
Happy New Year to the Ladies of the Australian Federation of Medical Women! May 2024 be filled with your continued dedication to advancing healthcare and the well-being of all. Wishing you a year of success and meaningful contributions. I look forward to serving you as President this year, and hope to hear from you with any ideas for the future of this organisation.
Welcome back friends and members of AFMW. I hope you have had a restful time off or if not, that you have planned some time off. As we return to our office, research departments and surgeries, the problems we try to address can direct us to a negative place so remember to take time every day to just breathe deeply, be in the moment and practise gratitude for living in this wonderful country.
This will be the first COVID-19 restriction free Christmas and Festive Season in Australia since December 2019 and my hope is that you stay well, healthy and enjoy time with your loved ones over this period. Nurturing our relationships is what makes the work we do sustainable in many ways. Read the AFMW President’s Christmas message.
