NAIDOC Week Purple Bush Medicine Leaves Celebration for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Women in Medicine Bursaries– Tuesday 5 July 2022

(POST UPDATED 17 July) On Tuesday 5 July 2022, we celebrated the recipients of the inaugural 2021 Purple Bush Medicine Leaves Bursaries and the launch of the inaugural Queensland based (NCWQ QMWS) Bursary sponsored by Mater. We are very grateful to the many distinguished guests who attended and supported this event, and hope it will become a template for an annual NAIDOC event in future, to be rotated nationally.

APPLICATIONS OPEN 23 May – CLOSE 20 June 2022: During Reconciliation Week, the Australian Federation of Medical Women, is making a tangible commitment to the support of continuing education of Aboriginal and Torres’s Strait Islander women in medicine with an inaugural bursary. As part of their commitment to reconciliation and the Makarrata Commission, we would like to encourage and empower a female medical graduate who identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, to further their medical career and/or leadership aspirations. QMWS National Council of Women of Qld (NCWQ) Bursaries 2022

AFMW state affiliate, the QMWS (Queensland Medical Women’s Society) are pleased to announce that in 2022, there will be three NCWQ (National Council of Women of Queensland) Bursaries to award in conjunction with the QMWS. Each of these medically focused bursary provides $1000 that can be used towards presentation or attendance at a relevant professional development event. Applications were launched this week, and close on the 23 May 2022. Apply online today.
