We are delighted to share that our AFMW past President Dr Sarah Coll is running for AMAQ Vice President and encourage all members to view her presentation which outlines her passion for supporting all Doctors. We wish the strong contingent of women who have nominated for Director roles in AMAQ all the best in the elections.

AFMW has been invited to exhibit at the Healthed Women’s & Children’s Health Update 2026. This is an important opportunity to increase our national visibility and strengthen engagement with clinicians over the coming months. If you’re interested in representing AFMW at any of the upcoming events, please contact the Vice President, Dr Madhura Naidu.

If you are interested in helping document the extraordinary stories of medical women who fled Nazi Germany and settled in Australia, please contact the AFMW President to be connected with the project.

“Our last eBulletin of 2025 was in mid December, only days before the shocking events at Bondi which has cast a nasty pall over the Holiday Season around Australia. My heart goes out to the victims and their families and to the whole Jewish Community who are reeling at such a targeted attack.” Dr Brenda Masters, President, AFMW

“I wish all of you a very happy Festive Season and hope that we can all approach 2026 with fresh energy and enthusiasm!” Dr Brenda Masters, President, AFMW

All Medical Women’s Society members are invited to attend the AFMW 2025 AGM being held via Zoom or in person in Kingston, ACT, Sat 6 December 2025. If you wish to attend, please register your interest with [email protected].

It seems so appropriate that the Australian Federation of Medical Women can celebrate the 5th year of the Purple Bush Medicine Leaves Bursary Program along with NAIDOC’s 50th anniversary by announcing five recipients of the 2025 Purple Bush Medicine Leaves Bursaries.

“As members of AFMW, we are committed to advancing the professional development, education, and training of medical women. Our goal is to enhance health and welfare, particularly for women and children in Australia.”

In 2024, AFMW awarded bursaries of $1250 to the four recipients of the 2024 Purple Bush Medicine Leaves Bursary Program. This week, we introduce to you, Ms Clancy Morgan, one the 2024 Bursary recipients.
