ratnam_ranjaniHaving qualified and practiced as a medical practitioner in Australia, Ranjani developed a desire to add greater dimensions to western medical practice. To this end she has gained qualifications in a range of additional therapies, moving away from standard general practice. Some of these include training at the Mind-Body Institute at Harvard, Meditation practices with Dr Deepak Chopra, Neuro- Linguistic Programming and Hypnotherapy, and breathwork These together with her cultural background allows  Ranjani to combine Eastern and Western practices and philosophies to empower her clients to integrate the body , mind and spirit. She currently runs her own practice in Mind- Body Medicine. She counsels using many modalities and runs meditation workshops. She has been involved in teaching medical students and running meditation workshops for a number of organisations. She has written articles on mind-body health and recorded meditation CDs.

sewell-jillJill Sewell, consultant paediatrician, is Deputy Director of the Centre for Community Child Health at the Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne. Her interests include developmental/behavioural paediatrics, education and training, health workforce, women in medicine, health policy and service delivery.  Jill is a past President of the RACP, and a past member of NHMRC,  ASQHC, and the Victorian Quality Council. Jill advises the Australian Population Health Development Principal Committee. She sits on the boards of Bayside Health and OzChild. In 2005 Jill was made a Member of the Order of Australia for services to child health.

Climate Change – The Time To Act Is Now!

Speaker: Dr Linda Selvey

Dr Linda Selvey is Senior Director, Population Health for Queensland Health.  She is a medical doctor with a PhD in immunology and is a Fellow of the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine. She is also chair of the Queensland Conservation Council. Linda has had a long standing interest in environmental issues. Linda was trained by Al Gore as a Climate Change Presenter in September 2007 as part of Al Gore’s Climate Project. She wrote a report on the impact of climate change on health in 2002.

kotsirilos_vickiDr Kotsirilos works as a general practitioner who combines the best of orthodox and evidence based complementary medicine such as acupuncture, mind-body approaches such as hypnosis, and nutritional medicine. Vicki was founding president of the Australasian Integrative Medicine Association (AIMA) between 1992-1998 which represents medical practitioners who integrate various forms of evidence-based complementary medicine and therapies in their clinical practices. Dr. Kotsirilos has published articles in a wide range of medical and public magazines and she has spoken at numerous medical and public meetings.
