NAIDOC Week Purple Bush Medicine Leaves Celebration for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Women in Medicine Bursaries– Tuesday 5 July 2022

(POST UPDATED 17 July) On Tuesday 5 July 2022, we celebrated the recipients of the inaugural 2021 Purple Bush Medicine Leaves Bursaries and the launch of the inaugural Queensland based (NCWQ QMWS) Bursary sponsored by Mater. We are very grateful to the many distinguished guests who attended and supported this event, and hope it will become a template for an annual NAIDOC event in future, to be rotated nationally.

THE AFMW is pleased to share the following information concerning the 2022 Brilliant Women in Digital Health Awards which seek to recognise 25 women from across Australia for their achievements in the health and aged care sectors. Nominations are now open to recognise women at all stages of their careers for their contributions in mentoring, medical research, technology development, improving health outcomes using digital health or introducing a new digital process. Nominations are open until 13 June.

APPLICATIONS OPEN 23 May – CLOSE 20 June 2022: During Reconciliation Week, the Australian Federation of Medical Women, is making a tangible commitment to the support of continuing education of Aboriginal and Torres’s Strait Islander women in medicine with an inaugural bursary. As part of their commitment to reconciliation and the Makarrata Commission, we would like to encourage and empower a female medical graduate who identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, to further their medical career and/or leadership aspirations. Applications are now being accepted.
