As I write, Melbourne is in its 5th Stage 4 lockdown, South Australia has announced a snap seven day lockdown and Sydney is in its 4th week of lockdown. We are all feeling the challenge and our patients are presenting with high levels of anxiety.
As part of NAIDOC Week celebrations, the Australian Federation of Medical Women is pleased to announce the recipients of the Inaugural AFMW Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Purple Bush Medicine Leaves Bursary. Bursary 2021 Update: During Reconciliation Week, the Australian Federation of Medical Women, is making a tangible commitment to the support of continuing education of Aboriginal and Torres’s Strait Islander women in medicine with an inaugural bursary. As part of their commitment to reconciliation and the Makarrata Commission, we would like to encourage and empower a female medical graduate who identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, to further their medical career and/or leadership aspirations.

AFMW President invited to attend the Western Pacific Region Consultation on Climate and Health. This event is being organised by the World Health Organization, the Global Climate and Health Alliance, WHO-Civil Society Working Group on Climate and Health, and other health partners.
The AMFW President has been invited to join the The Climate and Health Alliance, Doctors for the Environment Australia, Australasian College for Emergency Medicine, Australian Healthcare and Hospitals Association, and New South Wales Nurses and Midwives’ Association — as the Better Futures Australia Health Sector Working Group.
